GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION 
We are seeking an experienced AS/400 Analyst L2 to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in supporting and maintaining IBM AS/400 systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. Our client is an IT Services provider company that delivers technology solutions that bring the operational benefits of the public cloud to enterprise IT workloads. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • System Support and Maintenance: 
  • Provide comprehensive support for IBM AS/400 equipment. 
  • Perform regular system maintenance and monitoring to ensure optimal performance. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, collaborating with application developers as needed. 
  • System Installation and Upgrades: 
  • Manage and execute system upgrades, including upgrading-in-place LPARs from IBM i 7R3 to 7R5. 
  • Download and apply IBM i PTFs (patches) and IBM Power firmware updates. 
  • Perform patching and upgrading of IBM HMCs. 
  • Programming and Development Support: 
  • Develop and maintain programs using CL, RPG, and SQL (Basic). 
  • Assist and support application developers with system-related issues and development tasks. 
  • Network Management.
  • Ensure proper configuration and management of TCP/IP protocol and ports. 
  • Address network-related issues affecting the AS/400 systems. 
  • System Documentation and Reporting: 
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities. 
  • Provide regular reports on system performance, issues, and resolutions. 
  • User Support and Training: 
  • Offer technical support and training to users and stakeholders on AS/400 system functionalities and best practices. 
  • Respond to user inquiries and provide solutions promptly. 
  • Availability and Flexibility: 
  • Be available to work occasional off-hours and weekends as required to support business needs and system maintenance windows. 


REQUIREMENTS  

  • Advanced English proficiency (at least 75%).  
  • At least 2 years experience in supporting IBM AS/400 equipment.  
  • IBM i / iSeries / AS/400 engineer 
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of IBM i 7R3 and 7R5 
  • Must have experience upgrading-in-place LPARs from 7R3 to 7R5 
  • Must be experienced in programming in CL and/or RPG and/or SQL(Basic) 
  • Must be experienced in downloading and applying IBM I PTFs (patches) 
  • Must be experienced in downloading and applying IBM Power firmware 
  • Must be experienced in patching and upgrading IBM HMCs 
  • Support application developers and troubleshoot system issues as required 
  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and ports 
  • Must be willing to work occasional off hours and weekends when required to support business needs.
